Paonia Reservoir State Park

Paonia Reservoir is over McClure pass just before Somerset Colorado. Its a good 25 minutes before you get to the town of Paonia.
There are only a couple of camping areas, so you’ll need reservations.
You also need a state parks pass.
The water is a touch murkey but is the perfect water ski lake since its protected by the Ragged Mountains.
Paonia Reservoir is a state park, so you’ll need a state parks pass or be ready to pay cash for a day pass.
If for some reason all of the camping spots are reserved at the Reservoir, you could also stay at Paradise Campground, a new private campground nearby.
There is no cell service and no town nearby, so be sure to have a plan.
This reservoir is about an hour from Carbondale.
