Horseback Riding in Colorado

Facebook Groups

Horses are part of life in Western Colorado cowboys and equestrians practice a variety of horse sports in the area.

First, the Little Bookcliffs Wild Horse Area is outside of De Beque, Colorado and has quite the fan following.

Mid Valley, just up from Catherine Store, a new polo facility is under construction.  There are a number of new builds in the Aspen Equestrian Estates in case you’d like to live near your ponies.

English riding and Western riding are both practiced in the Valley.

Capitol Peak Outfitters  serves the Aspen area as does the   Maroon Bells outfitting service

D&G Horses and Outfitting  serves the Basalt area along the Frying Pan.

Cozy Point Ranch  is an Aspen Equestrian Center.

Snowmass Creek Outfitters  serves the Snowmass area.

Cedar Ridge Ranch  is Carbondale based and offers a variety of ways to enjoy the setting.

WindWalkers  is Carbondale based and focused on therapuetic riding.

In the same vein,   Acendigo  offers horseback riding summer adventures for young people on the spectrum.

RIDE  is a program for youth wanting to connect with horses in Silt, CO.

The   Roaring Fork Valley horse council  offers a guide to trails and advocates for horse trails.

Crystal Springs Ranch  near Carbondale is a great choice for English riding and offers a summer camp.

Strang Ranch  is an option for boarding and riding lessons.

The   OutWest guides  are based at the entry to Marble and offer Crystal Valley guided trail opportunities.

Taylor van Zyl is a horse trainer in the Redstone Area see VZPerformanceHorses.

Glenwood Adventure Company  offers guided rides on Bair Ranch which is beautiful area by No Name.

High Canyon Adventures, also Glenwood Springs based, offers guided trail rides as well, also at Bair Ranch.

Flattops Adventures is doing trail rides this summer! This is north of New Castle.

Camp Snow Cactus  is south of Silt and offers boarding and training of Arabians, western style.

I currently have listed a horse property on 2 acres in Silt Colorado. No HOA, two 3-4 stall barns and a storage cabin. Front office building and separate 3 bedroom home. Lots of Income Potential. 3 RV parking spots with hookups. 2 septic systems. Round pen and fencing in place. Near the Colorado River and a gravel pit lake.

If you want to buy a horse property, I can show you several in the area of Missouri Heights that come with acreage and barns.

In the New Castle area,   Porter Ranch  offers a trail ride in an elk pen where I saw baby elk along with their mommas in June.

Since so much of the terrain is in the White River National Forest, or the BLM lands, its really appealing to work on those backcountry trail riding skills.  Check out   BackCountry Horsemen of Colorado  for information.

I know horse properties from personal experience. I spent so many days at the barn getting ready for Pony Club.  Then onto eventing, then onto my very own jumper.

I also enjoyed teaching riding and going out on the trails at Forrestel Farm Camp in Medina New York.

At Ohio University, the Equestrian Team was an amazingly good time, and I’m so glad it’s a collegiate sport. We had Western Pleasure and English Equitation.

If you want to buy or sell a horse property on the Western Slope, give me a hollar
